Our local celebrity, Mary Payne, will get the year off to a good start with what we would all like to achieve in our gardens.

Grand parklands, pretty cottage gardens, giant veg, flower shows, even lawn mower racing – whatever your interests, there will always be something to tempt you out to a garden-themed event. 

Our panel of local experts, Nick Wray, Curator of the Botanic Gardens, Alan Down, gardening writer and former nurseryman and Christine Pritchard,  garden designer  and teacher, chaired by our very own Sue Knight, will answer your horticultural questions. So get your thinking caps on!

Janet will be giving us a wealth of information about these wonderfully scented plants and hopefully bringing some for sale.

Head gardener and chief executive of the Great Dixter Charitable Trust, Fergus works full-time hands-on in the garden as well as writing and lecturing extensively across the world. Great Dixter is the home of succession planting.

Sally has been growing her own food for twenty years and writing about it for ten. She has enormous expertise and experience of vegetable growing and will pass on her tips.

  Andrew will be bringing his 30 years experience in managing native habitats to show us how we can deal with our shady areas with imaginative planting.

  New Zoom Meeting

Alan was one of our Gardeners’ Question Time panelists back in March.    He is a former nurseryman turned journalist and writer and a very knowledgeable plantsman.    Alan will be donating part of his fee to the Greenfingers Charity which provides gardens for Children’s hospices.   Next year he and his wife will be driving an old banger from Belgium to Monte Carlo to raise money for the Charity.

Rebecca’s talk will cover not only plant hunting but some nail-biting and funny moments from the trip.

Richard is a Landscape Architect and garden designer as well as a published writer and photographer. He will take a look at the garden in winter and plants that provide form, texture and colour at this time of year, plus some ideas for designing a garden that continues to look good and give pleasure in this season.
