Phillip Aubury
Garden Ponds and Water Features
Wednesday 1st June
A welcome return for this former director of Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Whether for environmental reasons or simply decoration, ponds and water features are increasingly popular and so we need a bit of know-how and Philip will be here to provide it.
Day Visit to Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
Visit the famous Palm and Alpine Houses and the Rock, Bamboo, Japanese, Grass, Kitchen, Queen’s and Rose Gardens. It’s the most biodiverse place on earth!
The Henleaze Garden Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month except for July and August. Meetings feature expert speakers who cover a range of horticultural topics.
Starting from May 2022, meetings will resume at St Monica's. In parallel, a Zoom option will be offered to members.
Sales Table
At each live monthly meeting, we have a Sales Table. It works on a Bring and Buy basis: members donate plants, divisions, seedlings etc. Before and after the lecture, other members have the opportunity to browse and buy. In addition, the Organising Team buys wholesale bulbs in the autumn and spring to sell on to members. Any profit made is used to boost Club funds. In 2022 we are holding a plant sale for members.
Visits
We offer three day visits in June and July of 2022
We will be visiting Kew Gardens, Usk Open Gardens, and The American Museum and The Courts.
Currently there are no plans to run residential trips in 2022.
Benefits
As well as monthly meetings, the Club publishes a quarterly Newsletter, giving news and details of events, and "Garden Club News" is emailed to members each month.
Club members receive a 10% discount on plant purchases at the Brackenwood Garden Centre (see Useful Links below).
Membership
Membership renewal for 2022 is complete. The club is now almost full, but there may be a few vacancies for new members.
