Welcome to the Henleaze Garden Club
Things That Turn Me On - Confessions of a Plant Freak
Wednesday 7th December
Globe-trotting plant hunter and owner of the celebrated rare plants nursery Pan Global Plants in Gloucestershire, Nick will be telling us what ‘turns him on’ about the plant world. Uninspiring stock at garden centres, dull planting schemes and dumbing down of gardening programmes are all targets for his criticism, so be warned!
The Henleaze Garden Club usually meets on the first Wednesday of each month except for July and August. Meetings feature expert speakers who cover a range of horticultural topics.
Meetings resumed at St Monica's in May 2022. In parallel, a Zoom option is offered to members for most talks.
We have a Sales Table at several live meetings. It works on a Bring and Buy basis: members donate plants, divisions, seedlings etc. Before and after the lecture, other members have the opportunity to browse and buy. In addition, the Organising Team buys wholesale bulbs in the autumn and spring to sell on to members. Any profit made is used to boost Club funds.
We offered three day visits in June and July of 2022
We visited Kew Gardens, Usk Open Gardens, and Iford Manor Estate and The Courts.
Trips for 2023 will be announced soon.
As well as monthly meetings, the Club publishes a quarterly Newsletter, giving news and details of events, and "Garden Club News" is emailed to members each month.
Club members receive a 10% discount on plant purchases at the Brackenwood Garden Centre (see Useful Links below).
Membership renewal for 2023 is underway. All existing members have received a renewal form electronically.
